Beach getaway near Singapore you didn’t know about

Beach holidays are absolutely the best! Would you agree?20180506_075831-01[1]For someone who’s been living their life at the busy metro, it’s always a welcome relief to spend a day out in the sun and let the sea wash your worries. Feel the sand squish slowly through your toes as you gaily walk down the shoreline, hear the waves, and feel the breeze. What an ultimate relaxation!20180506_074114-01-01[1]20180506_073837-01-01[1]Often a hectic week, we would always want to have that breather. Yasss?
And so for a short-getaway, let’s not head too far away. My colleagues and I decided for a stay-cay in Bintan Lagoon Resort. Below is a short clip of our BLR stay-cation:

Here’s a quick intro, BLR remains the biggest integrated resort on the whole of Bintan Island, even after 20 years. Offering private golden sand beach that stretches nearly 1.5 km and 470 Indonesian style resort rooms that sprawled over 310 hectares of manicured gardens (really!) and only 75 minutes away by ferry served by the Mozaic Ferry (click link to book ferry ticket online) The service departs from Singapore’s Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal twice daily.20180505_172414-01[1]Stepping onto the island after the ferry ride, the first thing you’ll notice is the wide expanse of beach. (If I could just drop my stuff and run to the beach, I would!) lol
But I needed to pass through Immigration before anything else. haha! :p20180505_172429-01[1]The best part of it though was their own personal ferry terminal and Immigration. Say goodbye to long queues. Hurray! Walk pass the bridge and it’s already the arrival area and your passport will be stamped in no time.
Such a hassle-free getaway from Sg! And then one can either take a coach to the resort lobby or take a short trek (not really that far) and you’ll be welcomed with a local dance. Don’t forget to take your welcome drink at the bar after check in. Yuhooo! The check-in process is incredibly easy, you can count on the BLR staff to take care of you every step of the way.

Start your day with a breakfast buffet:20180506_065422-01-01[1]20180506_072950-01-01[1]And then off to explore the resort.
Without much words, let my photos do the talking:20180506_075659-01-01[1]

20180506_075653-01-01[1]Stretching out for 1.5km, the white sandy beach is perfect for spending an entire afternoon just lazing in the sun and gazing into the clear waters.0605-2018-055139570223093382-01-01[1]Who said you can’t have a quick island getaway from Singapore?20180506_083859-01-01[1]20180506_075301-01-01[1]And have I not mentioned that this resort has many instagrammable spots?20180505_174926-01-01[1]20180505_175127-01[1]From morning till afternoon, I didn’t ran out of spots to shoot. lol!20180505_175950-01-01[1]20180505_180518-01-01-01[1]As you know me, I take tons of photos!
I repeat, tons of photos! HAHA :p20180505_175457-01[1]Sun-baked? I don’t mind! So after the beach, let’s take a dip at the Pool. DCIM103GOPROGOPR4594.JPGGOPR4661_1525585298601_high-01-01[1]We were pretty much enamored by the entire resort, and we came back to Singapore relaxed, enlightened and jovial, ready to face the new day back in the city.

Really a no-worry holiday. Let your mind and body completely unwind!IMG-20180505-WA0058-01[1]Love,

Perfect weekend: Review of Rimba Jimbaran Bali by Ayana

Thinking of a weekend getaway and escaping the bustling city life of Singapore?20180119_141539-01[1]
There’s a lot of places you can choose from and make the most of your weekend. You can fly to Bankok, Penang, Langkawi or anywhere in the nearby Malaysia and Indonesia but hey, Bali is always a good idea!20180119_104840-01[1].jpegOh Bali, it has only been a few weeks, but how I’ve missed you!20180119_142635-01-01[1].jpeg20180119_140313(0)-01-01-01[1]Spent the weekend in Bali a few weeks ago and I can’t help but look back to such wonderful experience. 20180119_131642(0)-01-01-01[1]Sunshine, blue skies, and sea breeze was exactly what I wanted. Thanks to Skyscanner, a travel fare meta search engine which I always use to shop for cheapest airline ticket online. However, booking flights just a day before isn’t going to be that cheap but thanks to Jet Star and Air Asia, both airlines offer many promotional fares from Changi International Airport even if it’s a last minute booking.20180119_133205-01[1]Hooray! Flights booked! Where to in Bali just for the weekend? Uh-oh! Bali is too big to explore for just over the weekend, but since I wanted a tropical beach relaxation, what about staying in a resort? Yes, please!20180119_133831-01[1]20180119_133931-01[2]
There are a lot resorts to choose from (insert headache lol!) but Rimba Jimbaran Bali by Ayana came out number one from my choices, and it didn’t disappoint!20180119_125312-01-01[1]20180120_142611-01-01[1]20180119_125425-01-01[1]The Hotel is under the management of AYANA Resort and Spa Bali. AYANA is more well known as a romantic luxury resort for couples while RIMBA is more a family resort. The big PLUS for this is they permit guests from RIMBA to use AYANA and vice versa. Staying in one hotel and having double the facilities, or should I say triple since you’re permitted to use the KUBU BEACH CLUB too.  20180120_100758-01[1]What a BIG YES for this resort. They have everything! A retreat that is simultaneously luxurious, contemporary and Balinese.

20180119_124845-01-01[1]20180119_124837-01-01[2] Where to start with Rimba?
Seriously, I’m out of words to describe how lovely my stay was.20180119_124834-01[1]20180119_124622-01-01[1].jpegTheir famous circular sunken seating on infinity pool.20180119_120851-01-01[1]And my welcome drink. ❤20180120_142720-01-01[1]
Right from the moment you enter the front gate and drive towards the hotel through the lush greenery and perfectly manicured gardens, to reaching the magnificent lobby, you are made to feel special when you step out of the taxi with a beautiful frangipani lei  (flower necklace) and all the staff give you the warmest welcome. How lovely!20180119_125222-01[1]The service is impeccable. Every staff I met from the captain to the porter to the front desk to housekeeping, etc. have all been super helpful, courteous, professional, and pleasant. They’re all very attentive, seeming to know when to ask what you want and when to leave you alone.20180119_122730-01[1]At check in, I was so surprised that they’ve upgraded my room to an Ocean View Suite. Yay! The suite comes with a private furnished balcony having partial views of the Indian Ocean, surrounding forest, tropical gardens and the multi-tiered pool. 20180119_144909_010-01-01[1]It is equipped with a 47-inch flat-screen TV, work desk, minibar, iPod docking station and the day bed which can be converted into an extra bed. The marble-tiled bathroom features a large soaking tub, a shower and double vanities. And for extra comfort, do enjoy the complimentary aromatherapy set and L’Occitane bath essentials.

Here’s a short video of my Ocean View Suite in Rimba and some snippets of Ayana:

Worry less. Sea you at the beach? Aw! 20180119_140009-02-01[1]20180119_1415290-011.jpeg
Here’s one of my fave, The Rock Bar Bali. The famous Rock bar overlooking the West Coast of Bali. Awarded as World’s Best Bars with Views and World’s Best Hotel Bars by Forbes Travel Guide, CNN20180119_135305-01-01[1]Rock Bar is the perfect location to watch the sunset over the sea. 20180119_134757-02[1]Perched nearly 50 feet atop a cliff with panoramic views of the Indian Ocean, this outdoor club is a chic spot for sunset cocktails and late-night live music plus the HUGE WAVES and when I say HUGE, I mean it! lol! Just a tip though, don’t sit at the corner areas unless you want to get wet! :p20180119_134635-01-01[1]20180119_135826-01-01[1]20180119_135349-01-01[1]Locals and tourists from around the island line up every evening for entrance via an inclinator. And of-course, resort guests of Rimba and Ayana are granted priority access. Yahoo!

Met a few tourists at The Rock Bar and here’s a decent photo before getting splashed by the huge waves. lol!

Snippets of the famed Rock Bar Bali and the Ocean beach pool of Ayana ❤

Happiness is found in waves. Yay!
20180119_165550-02-01[1]20180119_165550(1)-03-01[1]

20180119_165548-01-01[1]20180119_165545-01-01[1]Beach or Pool? Both, please! AYANA has over 12 magnificent swimming pools and that’s more than enough to keep you occupied during your stay!  20180120_092555-01-01-01[1]20180120_092709-01-01-01[1]For a short weekend getaway, I only had the chance to enjoy 3 among the 12 pools: Ocean View Infinity Pool, Unique Rooftop Pool and the H20 Pool. 20180120_130918-01[1]20180120_130838-01[1]20180120_130912-01[1]Well.. well, there are plenty of reasons to be back and I definitely will. ❤20180119_161616-01-01[1]20180119_161909-01-01-02[1]20180119_161549-01[1]What an amazing resort indeed! You can have a change of scenery every hour and not run out of options. Then the next day you can move onto Ayana on the excellent shuttle service and repeat! I really don’t need to go out from the resort. They have everything! And if you’ve had enough of Rimba and Ayana, head down to Kubu Beach club which is also a must visit. 20180120_095843-01-01[1]With stunning views of the coastline and brilliantly set up space in the actual beach club and beautiful sand beach on the other side which I didn’t had the chance to stay longer and explore as it was raining heavily.  Too bad, but I’ll be back for sure! :p

Would I recommend? A BIG Yes!!! Drop some love below. ❤

Kalibiru, The Viral Destination

Kalibiru National Park is about 1.5 hour drive from Jogja or a 30min. drive from Borobudur Temple managed by a local citizen to be a tourism destination in Kulonprogo, Yogyakarta. When this attraction became popular in social media, it grew too busy and crowded especially during weekend and holiday season.IMG_5384-01IMG_5386-01 This tourism destination provides the tourists 3 great things:
1.) Breathtaking view of vast vegetation, Menoreh Hills and Waduk Sermo from heights.
2.) Long but thrilling queue to get that Instagrammable photo spots.
3.) Exciting journey to reach the destination. It is true that the best view comes after the hardest climb. Drove past the steep and narrow road before reaching Kalibiru definitely gives you a fun ride. IMG_5397-02IMG_5388-01-01IMG_5396-01To be honest, the main attraction is taking a picture on the tree stage. There is 1 big stage and 3 tree stage spots. But don’t be sad, they offer fun adventures too such as flyingfox, canopy walk and adrenaline bridge so you won’t be too bored with nature. If you just want to take a picture on the area and don’t mind some trees in your background, you can also skip the lines and find your own spot. But since you’ve travelled quite a distance then better take that Tree top shot. You have to pay Rp. 15.000 per person to get up to the tree stage and take a picture. You pay additional Rp. 20.000 for 4 pictures taken by their photographers. The wait is pretty long since they allow about 5 minutes per person to take pictures. I suggest you come early so you don’t have to wait too long. Otherwise, the waiting game is about 1 to 1.5 hours. As per my Yogyakarta Itinerary, went first for a Borobudur Sunrise tour then head straight to kalibiru national park around 7am. Mind you, it’s the best timing.IMG_5390-01IMG_5391-01IMG_5393-01IMG_5394-01Despite its remote location, Kalibiru offers amenities to facilitate the tourists: guiding staffs, warungs, toilet, prayer room, outbound facilities, homestay, parking area and reasonable price. Kudos to local villager who manage Kalibiru. Very recommended!SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESSAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESSAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESSAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESYour safest and convenient way of getting around this area is through hiring a personal tour driver. Lucky that throughout our Yogyakarta trip we had the best Jogja tour driver. Click www.jogjatourdriver.com for booking. And so my simple tip before you go is to avoid using slippery footwear as you still have to walk through a slope heading to the main area and of course do not ever forget to bring camera to capture your best instagram photos! Have fun!

Now take that Instagram selfie! :p

Borobudur Sunrise Tour, Central Java

20160211_055026-01The Borobudur temple is a majestic piece of architecture located in Central Java. The temple sits majestically on a top of hill overlooking lush greenery and cultivated fields. This famous Buddhist temple allows you to travel back in time to enjoy an unrivalled combination of history, culture, spirituality and natural beauty.20160211_054406-0120160211_054405-01-0120160211_054415-01-0120160211_053940-0120160211_054027-0120160211_054427-0120160211_054424-0120160211_053902-01 (1)The magnificent Borobudur temple is one of Indonesia’s spectacular site and is widely considered to be one of the world’s seven wonders. An ancient site dating from the 8th and 9th centuries decorated with stone carvings in bas-relief representing images from the life of Buddha. The structure is like a set of massive interconnecting Lego blocks held together without any glue making its stonework has no equal. This awe inspiring monument is truly a wonder.20160211_061319-0120160211_061323-0120160211_061317-0120160211_061316-0120160211_061314-0120160211_061308-01 (1)20160211_061255-01Went for a sunrise tour. It was quite misty and the experience began from absolute darkness. Armed with a small electric torch and an adventurous standpoint, you start from walking up steep steps to get to the peak of the temple, find a cosy spot that gives you the best view of the emerging sunrise, watch the sky bit by bit change colours, and keeping your eyes peeled just so you won’t miss a single moment.20160211_051941-01SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES20160211_053440-01 (1)20160211_055310-0120160211_055305-0120160211_054848-0120160211_054613-0220160211_055045-0120160211_055051-01-0120160211_055029-01Describing the view as spectacular is totally an understatement. I’ll let the pictures do the talking.20160211_055646-01 (1)20160211_060950-0120160211_060948-0120160211_060314-0120160211_060946-0120160211_060750-0120160211_060754-0120160211_060616-0120160211_060625-02SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESIt is absolutely worth visiting.20160211_061058-0120160211_061805-0120160211_061736-0120160211_061734-01

The Dancing Clouds of Imogiri, Yogyakarta

A scenery that can make you feel at one with nature. A peak that has breathtaking panoramic view. A spot where the clouds appear below where you would be standing.
Indisputably! – A PERFECT PICTURE!20160212_054231-0120160212_054241-0120160212_054234-01Mangunan fruit garden is located in the district of Imogiri, Yogyakarta. However during the time of our visit I didn’t see any fruit at all. Might not be in season for bearing fruit I still find myself favoured to witness such natural beauty. The hike up the hill is quite tough but the view is definitely worth it! The struggle from the rugged terrain to get up the hill will be paid off when you reach the mountain top. And you will see nothing but the beauty of real nature.20160212_053710-0120160212_054212-0120160212_053705-0120160212_053655-01The best time to visit is at dawn where the clouds is dancing in front of you at the terrace right on top of the hill. I was speechless. A scene where heaven meets earth. Savour the moment and wait as the rising sun shoots beams of light through cracks and holes in the clouds. I was totally in awe. I couldn’t be more grateful for witnessing the pastoral scene.20160212_053533-0120160212_053633-0120160212_053624-0120160212_053501-0120160212_053600-01-0120160212_053810-0120160212_054926-0120160212_054920-0120160212_054438-01

Definitely one of my fave when in Yogyakarta.

Meet Mr. Jogja Tour Driver , His name is Wahyu. Lucky to have crossed his website on the night before our flight to Jogja. He was not just our tour driver throughout our trip but became our local friend too. Our day by day tour was definitely smooth. He even arranged my Itineraries and made it possible to visit all in my list.

You may visit his site www.jogjatourdriver.com and see all what he can offer!
